Rest in Peace Jane Mandean 29/04/1972 – 12/01/2021

Today, the disability sports movement is mourning the loss of three time Paralympian and bronze medallist Jane Mandean. The 49 year old who won discus bronze at the Sydney games in 2000 succumbed to her battle against cancer. Mandean was a dedicated athlete since she first got involved at Eros school in the Western Cape. She later joined Unitie and Belville athletics club before ploughing her knowledge and passion back into the game as an executive member of the Western Province Sport Association for the Physically Disabled (WPSAPD). SASAPD President, Moekie Grobbelaar said, “It is with a broken heart that I inform you about the passing of one of our Paralympians. The joyful and bubbly, Jane Mandean. As we don’t have all the answers it was her time to say goodbye ? She has run the race and kept her faith. Our condolences go out to her family and friends. May her soul rest in peace as she will be missed by the SASAPD family.”
