Number of classified athletes in the Western Cape

All athletes must be classified in order to ensure equal and fair competition. A team of highly trained and qualified people perform the classification process. Classification is sport-specific because an impairment affects the ability to perform in different sports to a different extent. As a consequence, an athlete may meet the criteria in one sport but not in another.
